Michael Adeniran, the father of Whitney Adeniran, a late 12-year-old student of Chrisland High School, Opebi branch, Lagos, has narrated on social media how his daughter died.
In a Twitter post on Saturday, Adeniran said his daughter died on Thursday at the Agege Stadium in Lagos, which the school used for its inter-house sports competition held on the same day.
He said that before his daughter’s demise, she was in perfect health and had no underlying illness or disease.
According to him, Whitney left the house hale and hearty at the time the school bus driver came to pick her up from the house and took her to the stadium.
“To the biggest shock of my life, by 1 p.m. on Thursday, I got a call from my wife that she had been informed that our daughter slumped at the inter-house sport and she was rushed to the clinic,” Adeniran said.

“I left my office and went to the place where I found my 12-year-old daughter lying dead on the ground. I asked what happened to my daughter, and the school authority could not get me any information as to what happened to my child in their care.
“I gave Chrisland School a healthy, vibrant young girl. What Chrisland returned to me was a dead child. My entire family is in deep sorrow but the school authority claimed they knew nothing about my daughter’s death and all they knew was that my daughter slumped and died,” said Adeniran.
Adeniran, who is demanding justice for his departed daughter, called on well-meaning Nigerians to come to his aid.
The grieving father called on the Lagos State Government and the pathology department of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital to be honest with their autopsy report.
Adeniran also blamed Chrisland for holding its inter-house sports without preparing for health emergencies.

He said there was neither a fully equipped ambulance, a safety corps, nor medical personnel at the sporting event except a school nurse, who confessed to him that his daughter died on the spot but she couldn’t pronounce her dead because she was not a doctor.
“My question is, what happened to my daughter at Agege stadium? As a father, I demand an answer from Chrisland International High School. I am in deep pain and sorrow right now,” he said.
“If you are a father, you will understand my pain. My daughter was highly loved by us. We cherished her existence, and we could never allow an institution to gloss over the death of our daughter.
Adeniran said the school had been asking him to back down from conducting an autopsy since he started asking what happened to his daughter.
FIJ called Chrisland High School several times, but they did not take their calls. The school had also not responded at press time.
