The Nigeria Security and Defense Corps (NSCDC) has seized 150 barrels of petrol heading to Cameroon from Ibeno, Akwa-Ibom.
According to the paramilitary agency, the petroleum product, five engines and one boat were seized on the high sea from two yet-to-be-identified suspects.

“The Marine Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Akwa Ibom State Command, has arrested two suspects and impounded 150 drums of Premium Motor Spirit,” the agency wrote.

Yusuf Imam, the Akwa-Ibom State NSCDC commandant said the suspects were arrested close to the Atlantic Ocean, nearly crossing into Cameroon.
“Acting on credible intelligence, the NSCDC Marine Squad led by Jamilu Mohammed Adamu hit the waterways with the corps’ gunboat, chased, and intercepted the boat very close to the Atlantic Ocean while attempting to smuggle petrol into Cameroon,” The Punch reported.
Imam further stated that the two men who were arrested on Thursday morning would be charged to court after his team must have completed its investigations.
