Micheal Otoijamun, an Edo State-based businessman, has recounted how Aero Contractors withheld his N114,700 after cancelling the Benin-Abuja flight he had booked for his friends.
Otoijamun told FIJ that he booked the flight with the airline on March 24.
“During that period, I booked the flight on behalf of my friend and his business associate, and the total cost was N114,700,” said Otoijamun.

“A day before they were to fly with Aero Contractors, the airline sent a notification that the flight had been cancelled due to technical issues.
“After this, I was advised by the airline to fill a refund form, and I immediately did. I then personally delivered the form to one of the airline’s officials at their Benin Airport stand.”
The Edo businessman told FIJ that when Aero Contractors would not refund the money as promised, he sent several emails to the airline but got no response.
“Aero Contractors has refused to pay me back my money,” said Otoijamun.

“I don’t think its fair that a Nigerian airline would wilfully choose to cancel a flight, promise a refund and still choose not to refund people’s money. That is not nice. It’s been three months, and Aero Contractors has still not paid me my money.”
When FIJ sent an email to the airline’s customer care desk on Tuesday morning, one of its officials, who simply identified as Chisom, responded with a claim that one of the flight tickets had been used.
This claim was instantly refuted by Otoijamun, and then FIJ asked Chisom for proof that one of the tickets had indeed been used. Chisom sent a reply apologising for her error, and confirming that the ticket had not been used by any passenger.
When asked how Otoijamun would get a timely refund, she no longer responded.
