Mofehintoluwa Aje, a Lagos State-based stockbroker, has accused Dana Air of holding on to her N50,000 after a Lagos-to-Abuja flight she booked was cancelled by the airline.
Aje told FIJ that she had booked the flight with the airline on July 12 with the hope of flying to Abuja for a meeting that was scheduled to hold 12 days later.
“On July 12, I booked a flight with Dana Air with the hope of travelling to Abuja for a meeting that was to hold on July 24,” Aje said.

“Unfortunately, the flight was cancelled after the government suspended the airline’s operation in the same month.

“After the cancellation however, I was expecting Dana Air to refund my money but they never did.”
Aje said she subsequently sent several emails to the airline to demand a refund but they refused “to do the needful”.

“All I have continued to receive from them are ‘holding responses’. They keep telling me they are working on my request anytime I send them mails. I have received the same response countless times,” said Aje.
“It has been six months since the incident and Dana Air has refused to pay me back my money. I want my money back.”
When FIJ sent an email to Dana Air for comments, Oyin, one of the airline’s representatives, issued a response similar to the feedback Aje said she had been receiving:
“Thank you for your response. We sincerely apologise for the delayed resolution of your client’s refund request,” said Dana Air.
“Please be assured that all hands are on deck to ensure you get your refund soonest. However, please note that the ticket can be rescheduled or be transferred to another person to be used on any of our operational routes.
“The documents required for a transfer of ticket are a valid means of identification bearing signature of the passenger (international passport or driver’s license), a duly typed and signed authorization letter from the owner of the ticket stating the request with the new name to be changed and travel itinerary and evidence of ticket payment (bank proof).
“All inconveniences are deeply regretted.”
