Robert Mede, a resident of Bodere village in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa, has been nabbed after allegedly torturing his pregnant wife to death.
Mede is currently detained at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police headquarters in Yola.
The alleged murderer told Daily Trust how he tortured his 30-year-old wife to death during a scuffle.
He said his wife had left his house following a misunderstanding. But on July 4, she returned to accuse him of cheating on her. An argument that ensued between them led to a brawl.
He confessed to have angrily hit his pregnant wife with a stick on her waist, after which she collapsed and was rushed to a hospital.
She died at the hospital on July 9 when she was about to undergo a blood transfusion due to her deteriorating health condition.
Sulaiman Yahaya, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Adamawa Command, confirmed the incident, saying the accused would soon be charged to court.
