Zenith Bank has finally paid back the sum of N10,200 to Nonso Uchendu, a Lagos resident, two weeks after FIJ published a story on how the money ‘disappeared’ from his account.

A delighted Uchendu told FIJ on Monday that the money was credited into his account by the financial institution on November 10.

“I finally got the money from Zenith Bank last week after much back and forth. Thank you,” Uchendu said.

“Till now, the bank has failed to tell me where the error came from. They just told me to go to the POS terminal where the issue started from. After I made many calls to them, they eventually reached out to tell me that the money is now in my account.”

On November 1, FIJ had reported how Zenith Bank deducted N10,200 from Uchendu’s account for a failed POS transaction.

Due to its unresponsiveness, the bank made Uchendu wait for three weeks before he was eventually advised to return to the POS shop where the transaction was made.

A receipt had shown that the transaction was not successful during the period, but Zenith Bank had insisted that the POS merchant “received value”.
