David Vincent, a Nigerian, and Matthew David, an American, have been sentenced to prison for 25 years by a Cambodian court for drug trafficking.

According to Xinhua, a Chinese news platform, Vincent, 48, and David, 40, members of the same gang, were sentenced on Wednesday.

Judge Kim Sokunthea, Phnom Penh Municipal Court’s presiding judge, stated that the men were charged with “drug possession, transport and trafficking” under Article 40 of the Cambodian Law on Drugs Control.

“Based on the seized evidence, the court has found them guilty of illicit drug possession, transport and trafficking. Therefore, the court decides to sentence each of them to 25 years in prison,” he said.

Alongside the jail term, the court mandated the two men to pay a fine of $10,000 each.

David and his accomplice were first arrested in February 2021 for the alleged trafficking of 1.3kg worth of crystal meth and nimetazepam.

Judge Kim also sentenced Theam Tola, another Cambodian and accomplice of the duo, to jail for three years and slammed him with a $1,000 dollars fine.
