Access Bank has returned N33,127 to Abimbola Osinubi, a Kwara State resident, who was earlier denied a refund after a failed Point of Sale (POS) transaction.

The bank refunded Osinubi on March 8, two weeks after FIJ reported how her money was held for two months.

Speaking with FIJ on Wednesday, Osinubi said, “My money has been refunded to my account. Thank you for your help. I’ve donated a token to the foundation as a way of saying ‘thank you’.

“Thank you very much. I really appreciate the foundation for its help.”

The Access Bank customer had told FIJ that she wanted to pay for some groceries at Shoprite in Ilorin on December 10 but the transaction was declined.

Since her payment could not be processed, she did not expect Access Bank to debit her. However, she was not only debited but the bank also failed to reverse the money as earlier promised.

The bank declined her request for a refund with an erroneous claim that she had got value for her money.

When contacted by FIJ on February 22, Access Bank said it would investigate the claim and respond within five working days. Two weeks after, the money was refunded.
