S.P. Amubieye John, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ogombo Police Division, Ajah, Lagos, has returned Akande Adewale’s laptop and drugs, a day after officers attached to the station seized the items.

This is coming after FIJ reported that officers attached to the station harassed Adewale, a singer, and seized the bag containing his laptop and drugs.

On Saturday, Adewale went to the police station at the request of the DPO to retrieve his bag.

“When I got to the station, the DPO apologised for the officers’ behaviour and asked that I took my bag. But on checking the bag to see if all the items in it were complete, I found cannabis and Rizla rolling papers,” he said.

“The DPO told me to drop the cannabis and the papers. He was smiling when he saw them but did not say anything.”

On Friday, Adewale was in a Bolt car at Ajah roundabout at about 11 am when some police officers stopped his driver and began to harass him.

Seeing that the 22-year-old singer refused to remain seated in the car as they pressured the driver to drive to the police station, the police officers beat the driver into a coma.

FIJ called the DPO, who requested Adewale’s contact and promised to compensate him in any way he could.
