Scores have been reportedly killed after Russian missiles hit a military base near the Polish border in Lviv, Ukraine, on Sunday.

Evening Standard reported that at least 35 persons were killed and 57 injured in the attack close to Ukraine’s western border with Poland.

In a statement, Lviv’s regional military administration said: “Eight Russian missiles were fired at the military training base. The occupiers launched an airstrike on the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security. According to preliminary data, they fired eight missiles.”

Oleksii Reznikov, Ukrainian Defense Minister, in a tweet, called the airstrike a “new terrorist attack on peace and security near the EU-NATO border”, and urged Western leaders to “close the sky!”

The airstrike followed Russia’s threats to target foreign weapon shipments helping Ukrainian fighters defend their country.
