The Complaint Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force says it has opened investigations into the case of two officers unjustly sacked in Kwara State after they busted a car robbery ring.

The is following a revelation by FIJ on how Glorious Babatunde and Shola Akano, detectives of the Kwara State Police Command, unravelled a car theft network in December 2018 and were dismissed for attempting to expose a cover-up within the Police Force.

Reacting on its Twitter page few hours after the investigative story was published, CRU said: “This complaint has been intercepted and investigation initiated. Your tracking number is #CRU675614. Thank you for contacting NPF-CRU.”

Adedigba Adeyinka, a member of the CRU, subsequently confirmed to FIJ that the police unit had started investigating the case. He pledged to reach out to our reporter as their findings unfold.

CRU is an independent arm of the Nigeria Police set up to check the excesses of officers.
