The mysterious death of four-year-old Miguel Ovoke, who passed away at BrickHall School, Abuja, in April, has triggered a protest.

Ovoke’s mother visited the school alongside some loved ones on Monday to demand justice over the mysterious death of her son.

In a video obtained from the mother’s Instagram page, she and others were seen holding placards with inscriptions calling for justice.

Police officers were also seen in the video attempting to restore order to the school as the mother screamed.

The mother is alleging that contrary to the school’s claim that her son died in the hospital, he died on the school premises.

“Brick Hall School, Abuja killed my son (Miguel, 4 years old) on the 24th of April, 2024. I personally took him to school, a healthy child just for the school to call us to come to the hospital. [On] reaching there, the school stated my son choked on his food (beef meat),” she wrote on Instagram.

“The school (BRICKHALL ABUJA) told the doctor to say the child died in the hospital [but] the child died inside the school properties which the doctor told us himself. Now, the school is oppressing us, the family of the child, and the school is still open.”

FIJ earlier reported that Ovoke’s parents suspected foul play in his death. When the incident happened, they contacted a lawyer to handle the case.
