Over a hundred passengers are currently protesting at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos against multiple delays in a Lagos-Abuja flight by Air Peace Airline, FIJ can report.

A video exclusively obtained by FIJ showed the stranded passengers angrily confronting airline staff for ruining their appointments. Their protest led to a temporary closure of the boarding gate.

“See, the assurance of 11pm, if it fails, you are going to see mad Nigerians. If you want to make us mad, we will show you that nobody has the monopoly of madness,” one passenger was heard saying.

While narrating his experience, one of the passengers told FIJ that his flight had been postponed three times due to “operational concerns”.

“They have given us all sorts of excuses, including operational concerns without recourse to people’s urgent purpose of trip,” he said.

“It is a totally inhumane treatment.”

In the latest information gathered, the airline vowed to fly the passengers by 11pm instead of the initial 6pm schedule, a decision that will again leave many travellers risking their lives upon arrival at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, just before or after midnight.

FIJ gathered that throughout the hours of waiting, the travellers were only served with a drink and biscuit after the first round of protest.

Air Peace is yet to respond to a direct message by FIJ.
