Some gunmen kidnapped Israel Bamisaye, a retired Chief Pharmacist with Ekiti Ministry of Health, in Orin-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area on Wednesday.

Bamisaye was working on his farm located between Ero Dam and the Ekiti State farm settlement when the kidnappers came for him, The Punch reported

“The seven gunmen had earlier attacked one man identified as Ojo within the vicinity of the farm where Bamisaye was kidnapped,” a resident was quoted to have said.

“Ojo was asked about the whereabouts of the white men working at the farm settlement, but he replied that he didn’t know where they were.

“They ordered him to lie face down. They ransacked his car that was parked nearby and took away the N4,500 they found inside the vehicle. They fired a shot and terrified the environment before they later found Bamisaye and whisked him away.”

Oluyemi Fasipe, a youth leader in Ondo State, shared a video of Aina Vincent Femi and another lady narrating their ordeals with the gunmen on Wednesday. From the video, FIJ confirmed that Ojo is indeed Femi.

“I transported ceiling materials from Ado to the farm here. It was 200 pieces. So while offloading them, I saw two men approach me. One held a gun and the other was with a machete,” Femi says in the video.

“Immediately, I knew I was in trouble, so I tried to run backwards, but I met four others with AK-47 rifles.

“They asked me about the foreigners who worked on the farm, but I replied that I’m a stranger. The men requested for money and I gave them the N4,500 with me. They removed the battery in my phone and mama’s phone and went further. The men shot at a car approaching them but they escaped.”

FIJ called Sunday Abutu, Ekiti Police Command’s public relations officer, and he promised to respond as soon as the police confirmed Bamisaye’s abduction.
