The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed that Idowu Olamilekan Fatade, a wire fraud suspect on the wanted list of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has been extradited to the US.
EFCC said it extradited Fatade, who allegedly stole over $3.5 million worth of equipment in various cities across the US, on Thursday.
“Fatade Idowu Olamilekan was on Thursday, July 14, 2022, extradited to the United States for allegedly stealing over Three Million, Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars ($3.5M) worth of equipment in various cities across the US,” the EFCC stated on Tuesday.

“His (Fatade’s) extradition was coordinated by the EFCC following a notice from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), New York, through the US Legal Attache for his role in impersonating various cities, state and academic institutions across the United States.
“Fatade was indicted by a grand jury in the Southern District of New York for offences of wire fraud, interstate transportation of stolen property and identity theft.”
The EFCC arrested Fatade on September 30, and his extradition trial began in the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, in November.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke granted the request to extradite Fatade to the US to answer to the criminal charges against him on May 1.
