28.07.2022 Featured Police Confirm Renewed Shooting in Owo

The Ondo State Police Command has said there was a shooting at the Craneburg Construction Company in Owo, Ondo State, on Wednesday evening.

The police made this known in a tweet via its official Twitter account.

“Tonight, there was a shooting incident at Craneburg Construction Company Owo. Policemen are currently at the scene. Victims have been taken to Hospital and they are in stable condition,” the tweet read.

The Ondo police’s tweet came shortly after citizens raised concerns over a renewed attack in the town. Oluyemi Fasipe, an Ondo-based communications strategist, had tweeted “I heard there is another attack in Owo”.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed a similar attack on Okuta Elerinla Police Station, Akure, Ondo State capital, two days ago.

Temenu Boluwaji, a policeman, had died as a result of a gunshot wound sustained in the crossfire between the police and the assailants.

On June 5, a terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo left about 40 congregants dead.

The attackers invaded the church on a Sunday, spraying the congregants with bullets. The attackers are yet to be identified.

The police are yet to confirm those responsible for the shooting at Craneburg Construction Company, Owo.
