03.08.2022 Featured Gunmen Injure AIG, Kill Police Guard in Fresh Attack

Unknown gunmen suspected to be terrorists have attacked the entourage of Audu Madaki, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 12, in Bauchi State.

The AIG sustained injuries in the attack on Tuesday and lost one of his police guards.

Madaki was reported to have been travelling from Abuja to Bauchi when his entourage was ambushed and attacked between Barde and Jagindi in Kaduna State.

A source at the Zone 12 headquarters confirmed that the AIG sustained gun injuries from the attack while his orderly lost his life.

The AIG is reported to have been taken to an undisclosed hospital where he is receiving treatment. Also, security has been beefed up in the area, while armed police personnel have been deployed to fish out the gunmen, the PUNCH reported.

FIJ made several calls to SP Thomas Goni, the spokesperson of Zone 12, to confirm the incident, but he didn’t answer them. He had also not responded to a text message sent to him at press time.
