The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has unblocked the account of Abdulsamad Ishola Opeyemi, a student of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, whose account was blocked for no reason.

Opeyemi told FIJ on Wednesday that his account had been unblocked and all features restored.

“The account has been unblocked. I appreciate this greatly. Thank you very much, FIJ,” an excited Opeyemi said.

Opeyemi also said he was able to make a transaction of N5,000 today, confirming that his account was indeed back.

FIJ had reported how he noticed on July 2 that his account had been placed under lien. He was informed that this followed an erroneous transfer of N20,000 into the account.

Opeyemi told the bank that he was the one who made the transfer via a Sterling Bank PoS and provided evidence. Still, UBA refused to lift the restriction on his account.
