President Muhammadu Buhari has set up a team of ministers to dialogue with Twitter over the ban he slammed on the microblogging site weeks ago.

Members of the team include Babatunde Raji  Fashola, Minister for Works and Housing; Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice; Isa Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy; Chris Ngige, Minister for Labour and Employment; and Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the composition of the Federal Government’s team to engage with Twitter over the recent suspension of the operations of the microblogging and social networking service in Nigeria,” Segun Adeyemi, spokesman to Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, announced in a statement.

According to the statement, the move follows “Twitter’s letter to President Buhari seeking to engage with the Federal Government over the suspension, with a view to charting a path forward”.

Twitter was banned after it deleted a post by Buhari, which was reported to the platform by the public as a bitter reminder of the civil war where over million people died.

In retaliation, the Nigerian government suspended indefinitely the operations of Twitter in the country.
