03.07.2021 Justice JUST IN: Street Trader Killed by Stray Bullet at Yoruba Nation Rally

A young street trader simply identified as Jumoke has died at Ojota area of Lagos State, after she was hit by a stray bullet at the Yoruba Nation Rally.

FIJ can also confirm that at least two persons were arrested by policemen at Ojota/Ketu axis “because the Police saw them bear Yoruba Nation Banner”.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Lagos State Police spokesman, however, told FIJ that he wasn’t aware of any arrest on the occasion of the ongoing rally.

Meanwhile, the rally became disorganized after security operatives began to fire tear gas canisters and releas water cannons to disperse protesters.

An eyewitness confirmed that the incident to FIJ, saying: “The Police have started firing tear gas. It is just like that of June 12 protest.”

Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, had warned against any rally by the agitators, but Sunday Igboho, the convener, insisted on holding it in Lagos on Saturday despite the raid on his house by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday.
