Kolade Princess Damilola, a student living in Lokoja, Kogi State, has confirmed that her father will serve jail term after he physically abused her mother.
Damilola made this known in a statement shared via Twitter on Wednesday.
In a video posted by Damilola last week, her father was seen savagely smacking her mother (named withheld).

“The women ministry has assured my family that they’ll come to the house to do a monthly check-up, since my mum’s will is to stay with him. I actually didn’t want that, but next time this occurs, according to the first lady, my dad would be arrested,” Damilola tweeted on Wednesday.
“He’ll also serve a jail term and his name would be all around, because I don’t really care anymore about whatever his image is. My mum’s life is very important to me.”

Damilola had made a public appeal when the officers of the Kogi Police Command dismissed the report about the abuse.
She later told FIJ that Fatima Kabir Buba, the Kogi state commissioner for women affairs, had interfered.
“Thank you reaching out, I really do appreciate your support. The commissioner of women affairs has taken over the matter. They are investigating him (her father). Hoping for a positive result,” Damilola wrote to FIJ last week.
Damilola will return to school in a couple of days, but she has promised to look after her mother. FIJ will monitor her family’s progress and cover the subsequent prosecution of her father.
The Domestic & Sexual Violence Response Agency states that domestic violence is a continuing threat to the victim’s life and the lives of others (including children’s).
