The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, as part of its Friday ruling which sacked Ademola Adeleke as governor of the state, wittingly said Adeleke could not “‘go lo lo lo lo’ and ‘Buga won’ as the duly elected governor.”.

In a majority ruling signed by Tertse Kume, chairman of the tribunal; and Rabi Bashir, a member of the tribunal, referenced Adeleke’s dance at his victory party in 2022.

The words are culled from lyrics of Buga’, a song by Kizz Daniel, a popular Nigerian singer.

The ruling read in part, “Consequently, the 2nd respondent did not score a majority of lawful votes cast at the election. The declaration and return is hereby declared null and void.

Ruling by the Tribunal nullifying Adeleke's win as sighted by FIJ.

“The 2nd respondent [Ademola Adeleke] cannot ‘go lo lo lo lo’ and ‘Buga won’ as the duly elected Governor of Osun State in the election conducted on 16th day of July, 2022. See Kizz Daniel song, Buga. Rather, we hereby hold that the 1st petitioner [Gboyega Oyetola] scored a majority of lawful votes in the said election and is hereby returned as such.”

Adeleke has since declared intentions to appeal the verdict court, and has a 21-day window to do so.
