A Bauchi-based teacher has shared how Max Air failed to refund the N110,000 ticket fee she paid for her sick mother and her caregiver.
The teacher, who does not want to be named, told FIJ that she booked a return flight for the duo on June 30. As seen in a document obtained from her, the airfare for a round trip from Kano to Abuja was N220,000.
The teacher’s ailing mom had to go to Abuja alongside her caregiver for a medical evaluation on July 11 and was to return on July 13.
However, the return part of the flight was cancelled in the early hours of the planned travel day.

“Max Air sent a mail to that effect on July 13 at 1:51 am,” the teacher revealed.
She said that she had to book another flight with Overland airline after the flight was cancelled.
“Max Air refused to refund me after cancelling the flight. My mum is currently in the hospital, and I need a refund desperately to reduce the bills,” she said.
When she reached out to the airline on WhatsApp, she was told that she would receive a refund after 21 days. But the airline failed to keep to its promise.
“Before that time, I tried to reach the airline via calls and emails. The numbers rang, but no one picked up. I sent an email on July 13 and August 1, but no response was given,” the teacher told FIJ.
“I tried to call them out on Instagram, but they ignored all comments. I sent a WhatsApp message on August 28 to inquire about the refund process, but there was no response.”

“They only responded on August 29, when I intentionally suggested they reschedule the flight. When they took the bait, I immediately requested a refund. They said I’d been filed for a refund and the process would take up to 21 days.”
FIJ could not reach the airline for comments as its phone numbers were not reachable. Also, the email sent to Max Air on Friday had not been responded to at press time.
