Olajide Oluwaseun, the Kwara State resident whose female friend and schoolmate withheld his N530,000 since 2021, has been refunded.
The schoolmate refunded Oluwaseun’s N530,000 on November 2, months after FIJ reported the incident.
Oluwaseun had told FIJ that the money was down payment for a truck he intended to use for haulage business.
The Kwara State resident had sent the N530,000 before finding out that the truck was in a bad state. He asked for a refund afterwards, but the schoolmate withheld the money.

According to Oluwaseun, the schoolmate introduced him to haulage business in 2021 after they had both graduated from school.
His schoolmate suggested the purchase of a particular truck for N4.9 million, to be registered with a Lagos transport company to start the haulage business.
Oluwaseun was to deposit half a million, and then gradually pay the rest of the money once he started the business and began to earn a monthly return.
Although Oluwaseun was somewhat reluctant, he eventually agreed to make the payment, which he transferred to the said schoolmate between April and May 2021.
However, when he discovered that the truck was not in good working condition, he changed his mind about the business and requested a refund.
After trying to recover his money without success, Oluwaseun reached out to FIJ in January. A story was published that month, and he was refunded in November.
