The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has returned the sum of N200,000 deducted from Victoria Funsho (not real name), a policewoman’s account on January 26, 2023.
Funsho, an officer of the Nigeria Police Force working in Lagos State, told FIJ on Sunday that the bank “reversed the money now, now”.
This came a few hours after FIJ published a story on the bank’s refusal to return the money despite complaints by the officer.

“They have reversed the money now, now. Although I did not receive a credit alert, I knew they had reversed it after I did a transaction and received a debit. I saw that my balance was over N200,000,” Funsho explained to FIJ.
The officer, who could not hide her joy, said, “I am grateful. What you have done for me is a big deal. I am so delighted. I pray God would continue to strengthen your organisation.”
She had told FIJ that she initiated a transfer of N200,000 from her account to a First Bank account in January but it failed. The bank, however, removed the amount from her account, which prompted her to ask for a refund.
She said that she submitted a complaint through the bank’s virtual platforms and at two physical branches but the money was not refunded.

Before publishing the report, FIJ contacted Ramon Nasir, the bank’s public relations specialist, on Thursday, and asked that the complaint be channeled through his official email address for a resolution.
