30.07.2022 Featured After Killing Many in Sokoto Village, Terrorists Demand Petrol to Free Abductees

Twenty people have reportedly died as a result of a terrorist attack on the village of Duma in Sokoto State’s Tureta Local Government Area.

According to a local who spoke to PUNCH under the condition of anonymity, the terrorists stormed the village on Wednesday at 8 am, ransacked livestock and terrorised inhabitants for several hours.

The resident further said that the terrorists arrived on motorbikes in large numbers, killing people with their advanced weapons. Some victims were said to have died while attempting to flee the attack by jumping into a river.

Along with leading a group of security personnel and other government officials on a condolence visit to the village, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, attended a special prayer for the victims’ souls.

Some locals claim that bandits abducted some young people from the community and held them captive in exchange for significant amounts of petrol.
