When Ibrahim Bello, an Abuja-based deputy manager, booked a round trip with Azman Air, a Nigerian airline, on January 24 for a trip from Abuja to Maiduguri and back, he had no idea his tickets would be cancelled the next day.

Bello told FIJ that the airline had sent him a text message the following day to say they were cancelling his flight due to operational reasons and gave him the option of rescheduling to February 1, the next time they would be flying to his destination.

“I didn’t take the option they gave me because it would have affected my schedule. I instead asked them for a refund,” he told FIJ.

The deputy manager said he proceeded to fill a refund form with Azman Air demanding for a reimbursement of N131,645 for his cancelled tickets.

“I filed the refund form and submitted it to them,” he said.

“But nearly nine months after my trip was cancelled and I requested for a refund, I have not heard from the airline.

“My money has not been returned by Azman Air.”

On Monday afternoon, FIJ sent an email of enquiry to Azman Air’s customer care centre but received no reply. There was no response at press time.
