An Ikeja Special Offences Court has sentenced Olanrewaju James, a Nollywood actor also known as Baba Ijesha, to 16 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old minor.

On Thursday, Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the presiding judge, convicted James of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault between 2013 and 2014.

Taiwo sentenced James to 16 years in prison concurrently, according to Premium Times. She discharged and acquitted James of sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration counts.

The court found that the prosecution successfully proved that James indecently placed the minor on his lap and rubbed his penis on her body.

James was also accused of indecently touching the same minor and sexually assaulting her seven years from his initial assault. The prosecution accused him of rubbing her body and sucking her fingers.

James has been at the centre of a rape scandal with the minor since his arrest on April 22, 2021.
