Bandits on rampage have killed nine persons in the Chikun, Zangon Kataf, Igabi and Zaria areas of Kaduna State, FIJ can report.

Travelling by road to the southern part of Kaduna has become a dangerous adventure for commuters as bloodthirsty bandits have blocked the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway, targeting unsuspecting travellers.

Sources told FIJ that the journey from Kaduna to Birnin Gwari could be seamless, but for the recent blockade by the rampaging bandits in the Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

“They’ve been targeting villagers and travellers since Thursday,” a resident of Chikun told FIJ. “But we’ve seen security agents patrolling, probably to maintain order.”

On Friday, Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, corroborated the claim in a statement.

According to Aruwan, ‎three people were killed when bandits barricaded the Buruku-Udawa section of the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road in Chikun, while one person sustained gunshot injuries.

The commissioner also said bandits killed one and left another resident injured in the Yola-Kadi area of Chikun.

He said the terrorists killed two people in Sako village, and that two corpses were discovered by a patrol team in the Kurfi-Magamiya area of Zango Kataf. In Zaria, one Alhaji Habibu was murdered by the invading killers.

FIJ had reported how youths in the northern part of Nigeria protested the incessant killings of innocent citizens in the region. But as FIJ would find, officers of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) secretly forced leaders of the youths to drop their agitations.
