A mysterious explosion rocked Ibadan, capital city of Oyo State on Tuesday night, FIJ has gathered.
The incident happened at about 7 pm, affecting houses and buildings in Old Bodija, University of Ibadan and other parts of the state.
Ekene Okechukwu, a resident of Old Bodija, told FIJ in a telephone interview that he was in his house when he heard the explosion.
“It sounded like a bomb,” Okechukwu told FIJ. “Part of my roof shattered, the windows shattered and the roads became cloudy.
“We could not see anything. It sounded like a large bomb.”
Someone in Akobo said the impact blew all her doors open, while another in Aare/Awolowo area said the roof felt the impact but there was no major damage to the house.
FIJ spoke with students of University of Ibadan who told the newspaper that their rooms were affected.
Security agents were on scene, but FIJ was unable to confirm the source of the explosion or the casualty toll.

However, a number of medical practitioners on social media Platform X have called for medical reinforcements in Adeyi Avenue, Bodija, where there are “serious casualties”.
