Dominic Joshua has made a comeback on social media as #DominicJoshuaRedefined. On October 17, he made his debut Instagram post since his arrest in 2021, translated to mean ‘when a king’s palace is burned, a more beautiful one is rebuilt’.

Joshua was arrested for fraudulently diverting investment funds worth N2 billion paid to him by unsuspecting investors through his company, Brisks Capital Limited. Investors were promised a return on investment (ROI) as high as 30 percent to 60 percent monthly.

The investment did not live up to its promise, and hundreds of investors lost out.

After his arrest, Joshua was under the radar until his ‘rebirth’ in 2023. In an interview with Vanguard, he said of the events: “My remorse goes beyond words, as I am aware of the pain and financial losses my business actions have caused many. I deeply regret the turmoil I contributed to, and I am truly sorry for the suffering endured by those affected.”

“I have drawn closer to my faith and to God. This has been a profound source of guidance and inspiration in my journey to better understand myself and my purpose. Trust must be earned, and I am prepared to demonstrate my sincerity through my actions, not merely through words.”

Investors, however, have yet to see the actions he spoke of.

Nnaemeka Ikeguwonu, a businessman who invested N500,000 with Brisk Capital Limited, said he had only got blank promises.

“I was scammed by Mr. Joshua Dominic, the owner of Brisk Capital, in 2021 after I invested N500,000 in his company with a promise of a 30 percent monthly ROI, but they never did. I reached him on his private Instagram account for my capital, and he only sent me N150,000 a month later,” he said.

The N150,000 was part of his ROI, but after the difficulty he endured in retrieving it, he asked for the refund of his capital.

“I said he should just pay me N350,000. Let him take the N150,000 he has paid me as part of my capital and just give me my N350,000,” Ikeguwonu told FIJ over the phone.

He sent multiple messages to Joshua on his personal Instagram page between 2021 and 2022. “I almost gave up at some point,” he said. But Joshua resumed posting on his Instagram account in October, and Ikeguwonu resumed messaging him, but he has had no luck.

According to the police, Joshua had diverted over N2 billion investors’ funds to exotic cars, luxury watches, properties in Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt, and wild partying. During interrogation, FIJ learned, Joshua confessed to scamming over 500 investors through Brisk Capital. In May, the police said he would be charged in court once the then ongoing strike action by judiciary workers was called off.

On Saturday, FIJ sent messages to Joshua on Instagram regarding the status of Ikeguwonu’s money but received no response.
