Victor Adonri, a Lagos State-based retired civil servant, has narrated how Dominion Onward Homes and Properties Ltd., a real estate company, failed to apportion a plot of land to him after receiving a N500,000 purchasing fee.

Adonri told FIJ that he made the N500,000 payment to the company in August 2014.

“I paid Dominion Onward Estates and Properties Ltd. the sum of N500,000 for a plot of land in August 2014,” said Adonri.

“The land I paid for during that period was supposed to be located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone area.

“After I made the payment, the company sent me a letter of allocation, and that gave me confidence that the land I had paid for would soon be allocated to me physically.

“Unfortunately, that was the last meaningful interaction I had with the company, as they would later fail to apportion the land I had paid for to me.”

Adonri further told FIJ that he last heard from the company in 2020.

“The last time I heard from the company was three years ago,” the retiree said.

“Since then, the company has kept mute about physically allocating the land to me. I subsequently contacted them on several occasions via phone calls, emails and physical visits, but no one responded to me from the company.

“After making the payment in 2014, I insisted that the company’s officials should physically take me to the land I had paid money for, but they never did anything about my request. They only took pictures of the supposed land and sent them to me. It has been nine years and I am yet to get my land from the company.

“I am a retiree and this should be the time to have peace of mind, but Dominion Onward Estates and Properties Ltd. has really made that difficult for me.”

FIJ sent an email to Dominion Onward Estates and Properties on Friday morning, but the only response received was an automatic reply stating that “a response would be issued shortly”.

The response had, however, not been received at press time. A visit to the company’s official website, www.dominiononwardestate.com, showed that it had been suspended.
