The Department of State Services (DSS) has failed to produce the 12 detained allies of Sunday Adeyemo, the Yoruba Nation agitator popularly called Sunday Igboho, at a hearing of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, despite an order to do so.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu, who is hearing the suit filed against the DSS and its Director General, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, had in a sitting on July 23 asked the defendants to produce the detainees to allow it determine if they would be granted bail.

In a joint application filed by their lawyer, the 12 persons, who were arrested in a night raid on Igboho’s Ibadan house on June 2 had described their arrest and continued detention as unlawful and prayed the court to ask for their appearance in court.

Pelumi Olajengbesi, the applicant’s lawyer, had earlier argued that they were citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and such had rights protected by the constitution. Olajengbesi also stated that his clients had not been heard for several weeks after their arrest.
At the Thursday hearing, the court restated its order that the DSS produced the detainees before it and then adjourned to Monday.
