26.02.2022 news FG to Evacuate Nigerian Students in Ukraine Through Poland

The Federal Government of Nigeria said it is making “necessary arrangements” for the evacuation of Nigerian students stranded in Ukraine.

In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the federal government said Nigerians who cross over to Poland would meet staff of the Nigerian Embassy waiting for them.

“In the light of the recent happenings in Ukraine, please be advised that all Nigerians crossing over to Poland would have staff of the Nigerian Embassy waiting for them,” the statement reads in part.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria is making necessary arrangements for the evacuation of those stranded in Ukraine, through the Embassy in Warsaw, Poland.”

On Thursday morning, Vladmir Putin, the President of Russia, announced a “special military operation” in Ukraine, amid warnings from world leaders that it could spark the biggest war in Europe since 1945.

Minutes after Putin’s brief broadcast, explosions were heard in many major Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv.
