President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated 45 ministers assigned to lead the federal government ministries on Monday.
All the ministers and their respective guests converged at the State House Conference Centre in the Presidential Villa where the swearing-in event took place.
The president had earlier named each portfolio the new members of his cabinet would oversee. Most of the ministers will be directing the affairs of existing ministries. At the same time, a few of them will lead newly-established ministries such as the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

While Tinubu administered the oath of office to the ministers in batches, Ajuri Ngelale, his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, anchored the event, reading a short citation of each appointee.
Tinubu welcomed the ministers by saying that they were members of the “renewed hope cabinet”.
On the eve of the swearing-in ceremony, the president redeployed a few ministers to ministries other than the ones who had earlier been designated to work at.

For instance, Adegboyega Oyetola was redeployed to the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy from Transportation Ministry. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo was moved from the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy to the Ministry of Interior.
Although people have argued that the minister of state appellation is not recognised by the country’s constitution, the president still decided to apportion the portfolio to some ministers. Currently, 13 of the new ministers are actually ministers of state, a role inferior to a full-fledged ministerial position.
It took the Senate a week to wrap up the screening and confirmation process for the ministerial appointees. During the process adjudged by some Nigerians as less rigorous, some dramatic scenes unfolded.
A protest greeted the screening of Festus Keyamo, whom the senators accused of disrespecting the legislature during the administration of Muhammadu Buhari, forcing Godswill Akpabio, the senate president, to suspend the session for some hours.
Nasir el-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, participated in the screening but later missed out on the list of confirmed ministerial appointees on the strength of some petitions and allegations against him.
Two other individuals, Stella Okotete and Abubakar Danladi from Delta and Taraba States respectively, had some baggage that stalled their confirmation as ministers too.
