On March 11, Olakunle Michael, an Osun-based gas retailer, wanted to restock at the Gasland Depot, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Michael told FIJ that while the service was delivered, paying for it online was difficult as the transaction failed.
“On March 11, I wanted to make a bulk purchase of gas at the Gasland Depot, Ile-Ife, Osun-State,” he told FIJ.

“I used my Guaranty Trust Bank debit card for the transaction via the Moniepoint PoS owned by the same gas depot.
“The transaction was declined, and I became stuck because the money left my account.”
Michael said he immediately contacted his bank and the payment merchant to complain about the transaction but they kept tossing him around.
“I contacted both banks formally, but it has been an unsuccessful back and forth between us,” he said.
“This issue has affected my business, and both GTBank and Moniepoint have been playing gods over this matter with no resolution.”
FIJ contacted GTBank and Moniepoint for comments on the unsuccessful transaction. While there was no response from GTBank, Moniepoint stated that it would escalate and investigate the issue.
However, a week after FIJ reached out to them, Michael got a refund from GTBank.
“I got a reversal of the money from GTBank,” he confirmed to FIJ.
“I am grateful for your help, FIJ. Thank you.”
