Eleojo Gift Agbelege, a Borno State-based trader, has joined the list of investors accusing Amijcoo, an agricultural investment platform, of duping them.

Agbelegbe told FIJ that the platform, owned by one Akinwole Oluwakunle, continued to hold on to her N1.5 million, the capital she paid to the company in late 2021.

“Between December 12, 2021, and February 2022, I invested N1.5 million with the company. I invested N1 million in cashew farming and was promised a return on investment (RoI) of 30 percent after nine months,” Agbelegbe said.

“This meant that by September 2022, I was supposed to be paid N1.3 million.

“I invested another N500,000 in pig farming and was also made a promise that I would get 25 percent RoI at the end of nine months. This meant that upon maturity, Amijcoo was supposed to pay me N625,000.”

Agbelegbe told FIJ that in September 2022, the period she expected the repayment to be made, Amijcoo sent her a mail asking for more time.

“During that period, they said they had issues with their buyers and that I should give them additional two months to sort out repayment,” the trader said.

“At the end of the two months however, Amijcoo still did not pay me my money. I sent several emails to them but I did not get any favourable response. They also stopped answering my phone calls.

“My N1.5 million is still hanging with the company. Please, I want my money back.”

Recently, FIJ reported how Olusegun, Agbelegbe’s husband, invested N3 million with the platform without getting a repayment of both the capital and the RoIs Amijcoo promised.

Investigations by FIJ showed that Akinwole, the CEO of Amijcoo, is also the owner of Jadek Farms, the company the investment platform claimed it was partnering with while trying to convince investors to invest in the pig and cashew farming businesses.

He was last active on Facebook in June 2021, the same period he was last active on LinkedIn.

Apart from Jadek Farm’s official Twitter handle, which was last active in May 2021, there is no evidence that Akinwole operates a personal handle.

Phone calls, emails and text messages sent to Amijcoo by FIJ for a response to the accusation were never responded to by the platform.
