Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived a polling unit at Kpansia Town Hall, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, without the Bimodal Voter Registration System (BVAS) machine.
Douye Jonathan, a voter at the polling unit, told FIJ that the officials only came with ballot papers and boxes. He said the officials told voters that machines were coming from their office.
Jonathan’s polling unit is one of the 64 in Yenagoa Local Government Area’s Ward 6, where elections were postponed until Sunday, February 26.
On Saturday, the electoral commission announced the rescheduling of elections in 141 polling units in wards 4, 6, 8, and 14 of the local government area.

This was after protests erupted in Yenagoa due to large scale absence of INEC officials and electoral materials in multiple polling units.
INEC stipulated the rescheduled voting exercise to commence at 10 am. Jonathan, however, stated that INEC officials arrived his polling unit at 11:23 am.
