15.02.2022 Featured JUST IN: After Kyari’s Arrest, IGP Shuts All IRT, STS Satellite Units

Usman Alkali Baba, Inspector-General of Police, has ordered the immediate closure of all satellite units of the Intelligence Response Team, (IRT) and Special Tactical Squad, (STS) across the country.

All officers serving under these units have been asked to report to the force headquarters in Abuja for debriefing. This is according to Channels TV.

These officers, based on exclusive information available to ChannelsTV, will be posted to serve in various commands across the country.

The development comes a day after Abba Kyari, suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police and Head, Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force, was arrested alongside four others by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for their alleged involvement in drug dealings.

Kyari, who was probed last year by the police for his alleged role in the fraud ring of Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, was declared wanted by the NDLEA on Monday, and was arrested by the police some hours later.
