Police officers armed to teeth have surounded the Lekki Toll Plaza and other parts of Lagos where protests are expected to hold on Saturday.

According to a post made by the Rapid Response, Lagos State Police Command, on Facebook, one CSP Yinka Egbeyemi is “leading a team of police officers on a show of force to Lekki Toll Gate, Obalende, Ikoyi, Jakande Roundabout, and other areas in Eti Osa as part of efforts to deter crime as well as boost the morale of his officers in the areas”.

This development came after the Lagos State Government warned organisers of the #OccupyLekkiTollGate and #DefendLagos protests at the Lekki Toll Plaza that their planned action cannot go ahead.

But some defiant youths vowed to stage the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest, despite warnings from authorities.

The organisers of the protest are demonstrating against the decision of the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry on police brutality to reopen the toll gate, which is the venue of indiscriminate killings of some #EndSARS protesters.
