Wardens at the Kirikiri medium and maximum security prisons in Lagos state have begun to panic after FIJ reported their secret release of 101 Boko Haram members.

According to an insider, the wardens visited some cells which used to house the terror suspects, on Monday, and began questioning inmates through cell heads.

“The wardens went from window to window to talk to Marshalls (leaders of cells) to find out who exposed them,” said FIJ’s source.

“These marshalls must have quizzed the inmates to find out how the information of the prisoner release managed to leak.

“By tomorrow or next, the wardens intend to conduct a search amongst the inmates. Currently, there are over 3,000 inmates here, so they may have felt that it would not be noticeable if they release 101.”

FIJ earlier wrote to the ministry of interior via mail, but as of press time, it was not responded to.
