Tobi Oguntola, an Ibadan-based freelance writer, has detailed how Kuda Bank, a microfinance bank, failed to resolve a N29,000 erroneous deduction.
Oguntola told FIJ that the error occurred in his attempt to pay for a service at Hard Rock Cafe in Ibadan in April.
“I made a card payment at Hard Rock Cafe on April 4, but it was declined despite a deduction,” he told FIJ.

“I reached out to Kuda the following day to formally complain, but they assured me I would get a refund within 24 hours. They also said I should contact them if I didn’t get it.
“This made me confident, but then I didn’t receive a response or reversal from them even when I reached out after the timeline.”
The freelancer said even though Kuda did not deny the failed transaction, they failed to initiate a refund.
“When Kuda Bank failed to issue the refund, I called them, and the customer representative agent who attended to me said she had logged it and I would get a reversal within five days,” he said.
“When the time frame also elapsed, I reached out again, but they kept saying they were working on it.
“It’s well over a month, and I haven’t heard anything from Kuda.”
When FIJ reached out to the microfinance bank via email and Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, our reporter got an automated email response and no reply on Twitter.
