Balogun Market, a famous market on Lagos Island, has been gutted by fire.
According to reports, the fire which broke out at the topmost floor of the building destroyed a courtyard in the market where ladies’ shoes were sold.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Adeseye Margaret, Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, noted that the fire was under control, as mitigation was on to limit it spread.

Jubril Gawat, a media aide of the state governor told Premium Times, that “two divisions of our Lagos Fire Service are on ground already”.
He said that firefighters from the United Bank for Africa (UBA) were also helping to combat the fire.
