Utibe Utomobong, mother of eight-year-old Uwakmfon Ime, an accident victim, has revealed that she is financially exhausted and needs money for her son’s surgery.
While speaking with FIJ on Friday, she explained how she had gone to the roadside begging for money for the upcoming surgery.
“Please, I’ll appreciate any help I can get. We need N42,000 if they’ll do this next surgery, and we’re still owing hospital bills. I don’t want the next operation day to pass him by,” she said.
On April 7, Uwakmfon was returning home from school when he was hit by a car, leading to the amputation of one of his legs.
“I was told that the driver of a Sienna car that was carrying bags of rice lost control of his vehicle and that the car somersaulted several times,” Utibe said in a conversation with FIJ.

Faith Akpan, a close friend of the Utomobongs, told FIJ Uwakmfon had undergone the first surgery on the lower limb, and would be undergoing another one soon. This surgery is now due.
Members of the public interested in donating to support the surgery can send contributions to UBA Account, 2254001158, with the name Utibe Edet Boco.
