03.03.2022 Featured NDLEA Files Eight Charges against Abba Kyari

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed eight charges against Abba Kyari, the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, and six others over their involvement in alleged drug trafficking.

The NDLEA filed these charges before a federal high court in Abuja on Thursday.

The NDLEA accused DCP Kyari and four other police officials of conspiracy, obstruction, and dealing in 17.55 kilos of cocaine.

Additionally, it said that Kyari and his associates, who are presently detained, tampered with 21.25kg of Cocaine.

Umeibe and Ezenwanne were charged with collaborating with other unidentified individuals to bring 21.35 kilogrammes of cocaine into the nation.

NDLEA said the charges against the seven were filed since Monday, with the case already assigned to a judge and arraignment fixed for Monday Macrh 7 at Federal High Court 8, Abuja.

Kyari was declared wanted and subsequently arrested by the NDLEA in mid-February over links to an international drug cartel. The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had earlier fingered him in a $1 million scam.
