Lagos has been ranked ahead of Dubai, San Francisco and some other notable cities in terms of local life and social connections in a 2024 report.

Some hospitality and entertainment spots gave the city an edge in the ranking of 50 cities that tourists and adventurers will be excited to explore in the new year. Maple Lagos, Kuti’s Bristro, Oniru Private Beach and Hard Rock Cafe Lagos were spotlighted in the latest issue by Time Out, a global media and hospitality firm, as tourist attractions in the city. According to the report born out of residents’ responses to a survey framed around the quality and affordability of food, culture and nightlife in cities, 96 percent of Lagos city dwellers are happy, 98 percent consider the state beautiful, while 92 percent gave the city a friendliness rating.

These considerations earned Lagos State the 19th position, ahead of 31 other international tourist destinations, including Dubai, Glasgow, Abu Dhabi and Barcelona.

Respondents to the survey were also asked how their city makes them feel: Are they happy there? Is it a beautiful place? Is it easy to make social connections?
