Amanda Izedonwen, a student and Oriflame consultant in Ogun State, has narrated how Ozuem May Etinagbedia, a hair vendor she met online, has refused to deliver the human hair she paid for.

When she confronted the hair vendor and demanded that her money should be returned, the vendor told her to “send dog to bite me” and then blocked her on WhatsApp.

Izedonwen told FIJ that she paid N112,000 to the vendor on October 7, N110,000 of which was for the hair and the remaining for delivery fee. But she had to pay an additional N2,500 on October 10 for delivery.

According to Izedonwen, she was meant to receive the package within two to four days, but she has neither received the product nor a refund for over three weeks.

“I got her number from a WhatsApp group, and I decided to give her a try because I had been patronising most of the vendors on the group and they always delivered. She was always posting hair for sale on the group,” she said.

“She told me she was based in Auchi, Edo State. After paying, she said it would take two to four days to get the parcel to me in Abeokuta where I stay; she claimed she would send the hair via DHL on October 10.

“But she neither called for customer feedback nor messaged me to know if I had gotten my parcel or not. I messaged her on Wednesday, asking when I would get it. She said she would get back to me.

“She sent me a voice note, saying the driver said it would get to me within three to four days. I asked her why did she not send it through a bus, but she said it was for the safety of the hair.

“On Friday, October 14, I reached out to her again as I was becoming sceptical about the whole thing. That was when I suspected she was not real and had scammed me.

“I sent her a series of messages, demanding feedback from her. But she was not even bothered. I was always the one messaging her. I told her she was a scam. I called DHL, but they said my number was not on their system.

“Meanwhile, the vendor had told me that she wrote my phone number on the package. I reached out to her again and told her to send me the tracking the number. Every time I asked her to do that, she said she would get back to me the next day, but she never did. I would still be the one to message her to know what was going on.

“On the 19th and 24th, I went to my bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, and First bank, her bank where I transferred the money to. I went there to report the issue, but the banks said they could not do anything about it. I messaged her again, and she told me the hair was sent to a wrong location.

“She even said she was pregnant, and as such she could not stress herself. I told her all I wanted was my hair or a refund. She insulted my family, but I just laughed it off.

“I confronted her again and she said I was rude. That I would come to her DM, I won’t greet and I would start asking for money. Till today she has refused to return my money and ask me to do my worst. After much argument, she blocked me.”

Afterwards, Amanda shared a broadcast message with the members of the WhatsApp group where she met the hair vendor.

The hair vendor had initially told Izedonwen that she was residing in Auchi, Edo State.

She told FIJ that after sending the broadcast message, someone on the group told her the vendor was not in Auchi but Sapele in Delta State.

“Somehow, May learnt about the broadcast message, so she unblocked me. She came to my DM last Saturday, saying she would refund my money but it might take a while.

“I also posted on my WhatsApp status that if she did not send my money, I would involve her family and post her pictures everywhere online and reveal that she is a scammer.”

FIJ could not reach the hair vendor for comments, as her number did not connect. She also did not respond to the message sent to her.
