Oluwatobi Adeyemi, a graduate of Sokoto State University, Sokoto State, is about to forfeit his chances of being mobilised for the next phase of the National Youth Service Corps’ (NYSC) one-year mandatory programme.
This is because the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has refused to approve his Change of Institution request, five years after he had applied for it.
Adeyemi told FIJ that he first applied to JAMB for the change in 2017, after Sokoto State University offered him an admission.
He said he had to revisit the issue in January 2022, when JAMB did not treat his 2017 request.
“I first visited the JAMB office Ilorin, Kwara State, to pay N4,000 for change of institution form when I was given admission by Sokoto State University in 2017,” Adeyemi said.
“I thought it had been treated and completely forgot about it until January 2022 when I realised JAMB still haven’t approved my request.
“The school has approved that the request is from their institution since February 8, but JAMB is yet to give an approval on its side. If this is not rectified, I will not be able to go for youth service next month.”
Adeyemi also said that when he reached out to JAMB, they told him he had no issues and that the change would reflect within three weeks, but the issue still persists.

“JAMB told me that it would be effected within three weeks. But till we speak, it hasn’t. A source I was once in communication with at the board also stopped responding to my calls and messages.”
FIJ made several phone calls to JAMB but they were not answered. An SMS sent to the line was also not responded to at press time.
