Onyekachi Okoroji, a web designer based in Lagos, has accused BigiBet, a sports betting company in Ibadan, Oyo State, of withholding his winnings for two months.

On October 10, Okoroji won ₦226,000 from BigiBet after correctly predicting the outcomes of six football matches. However, he has yet to receive the money.

Okoroji told FIJ he would not have staked on BigiBet if he had known they had a reputation for delaying customers’ winnings.

“I had no idea they delay their customers’ winnings. If I knew, I would not stake up to ₦40,000 on BigiBet because I have a Bet9ja account. When I deposited the money in my account, it took some days before it reflected in my wallet,” Okoroji told FIJ.

Okoroji said he called BigiBet customer care several times, but was irritated by the excuses the company gave to pacify him.

“I reached out to them different times. They said they were having difficulties with payment and would relay my information to their team. Since then, there have been backs and forths,” he said.

When FIJ contacted BigiBet customer care, the call representative said the company had had issues with their payment gateway for a while, and promised the matter would be resolved.
