Camillus Mbachu, a former employee of Westgate Technologies, has told FIJ how the company refused to pay his July salary.
He said he resigned in July and expected to receive his last salary from the company no later than August 2 but it never came.
Mbachu said in the 11 months he spent at the company, salary payment never exceeded the second day of the new month. It then came as a surprise to him that his salary was delayed and he was yet to be paid as of Thursday.
“They said I did not resign appropriately, but they also did not give me an appointment letter prior to assuming work with them,” Mbachu told FIJ. “They currently owe me N100,000.”

When he did not get his salary, he sent a text message to Yinka Adeosun, executive director of information technology in the company, at 6:30 pm on August 2.
The text, which was obtained by FIJ, read, “Good evening, sir. I wasn’t paid my salary for the previous month. I said it’s best I let you know.”
Adeosun replied the message, saying, “I will redress the matter tomorrow and see that you get paid.”
However, 15 days after this pledge, the company is yet to fulfil its commitment.
When FIJ contacted Adeosun, he said he was not aware Mbachu was yet to be paid.

Adeosun said, “There is no problem. Don’t mind him. I have been busy; I would have responded to his message. There is nothing to talk about. He would have his money.
“I have an issue I am battling here now. When I am done, I will respond to him. I will talk to the company and he will have his money. I thought he had been paid since.
“He should just relax. It is a non-issue. I will get back to him. I have not conveyed his message to the chairman and to the account office. Let me do my own part and he will have his money.”
